We are excited to be sharing with you some incredible FFCA success stories from the last few months, which reflect our organization's ongoing and steadfast commitment to academic excellence in Alberta.
After years of design and construction work, we are thrilled to announce that the new North High School Campus is now open and operating! Our staff and students moved into the new space over spring break and officially started classes there on April 10.
The campus is purpose-built to meet students’ academic, athletic, drama, and art needs, and it was designed with sustainability in mind. In September of 2023, it was recognized by AWARD magazine for its design features, including sustainable features such as a solar panel system and electrochromic glass. We hope to offer tours of the new space in the coming months. Thank you to all FFCA students, families and faculty for your patience and perseverance in managing through the construction and disruptions. We look forward to hosting a grand opening with Alberta Education and the Province later in the Fall.
We also wanted to provide an update on two significant pieces reflecting our organization’s commitment to academic excellence. In the Fall of 2023, FFCA underwent a Charter Review administered by Alberta Education as part of our Charter Renewal process. We are grateful to the FFCA families, students, staff and Board members who participated in the focus groups with Alberta Education as part of this process. In January, we received an exemplary final report on the review of all areas of evaluation from Alberta Education. View the final report here.
Alongside this, in March, the annual Fraser Institute High School Rankings Report (Alberta) was released with great news for both our North and South High Schools. SHS and NHS are the number one and two publicly funded high schools in Calgary. Earlier this year, in the Elementary School rankings, FFCA received an overall ranking of 28 out of 858 schools in Alberta. This is our highest ever Elementary School ranking and places FFCA in the 97th percentile provincially. View the School Ranking site here.
We want to recognize and commend our staff and senior leadership for their hard work in helping with the review process and for their work on a daily basis that contributes to FFCA’s ongoing academic and organizational excellence.
