Lorne McDonald

After twenty years of dedicated service to FFCA, Mr. McDonald has announced that he will be retiring at the end of the 2019-20 school year. Since its inception, FFCA has made a significant difference in the lives of the students and families we serve and also become an important part of the educational landscape within Alberta. Lorne has played a key leadership role in this work since joining FFCA in 2000. He served as Associate Principal at SEE and Dr. Norman Bethune  prior to becoming Principal Educator at Renfrew(NEE), NMS and NWE. In 2016 he took on the role of Coordinator of School Services at Central Office.

In announcing his retirement, Lorne comments as follows:

Education has been a fantastic career, and FFCA has been a huge part of that. I will miss the students and families that have been a part of this school community.  I will especially miss working daily with the many colleagues and friends that have become a part of my life. I thank FFCA for the opportunities it has given to me and my family.  I look forward to watching your continued growth and success in the future.

His contributions to our students, staff and parent community will be greatly missed. Please join me in thanking him for his dedicated service and in extending best wishes as he transitions into the next phase of his learning journey.

Joan Burke

After fifteen years of dedicated service to FFCA, Mrs. Burke has announced that she will be retiring at the end of the 2019-20 school year. Since its inception, FFCA has made a significant difference in the lives of the students and families we serve and have also become an important part of the educational landscape within Alberta. Joan has played a key leadership role in this work, especially in the areas of inclusion, literacy and assessment since joining FFCA in 2005. She taught Grades 3 at SEE until 2008 when she became Associate Principal at SWE. She took on the role of Coordinator of Instruction at Central Office in 2016.

In announcing her retirement, Joan comments as follows: “Life is such an adventure and I have been so fortunate in my career to have had so many wonderful journeys along the way.  When I joined FFCA in 2005 I had no idea how many unique opportunities would be provided to me.  In each of these special moments I have been so grateful to work alongside fantastic students, parents and colleagues.  Being part of FFCA will always remain one of my career highlights.  It is a special place and I am thankful to have spent time growing and learning with all of you.  As someone wiser than me once said remember to always be humble, be teachable and never stop learning.  Be well FFCA.

Her contributions to our students, staff and parent community will be greatly missed. Please join me in thanking her for her dedicated service and in extending best wishes as she transitions into the next phase of her learning journey.
