We see a need and an opportunity to take a significant step forward in serving the youth of Calgary and beyond. We have identified, through a prolonged discernment process, two strategic goals to support our desire for permanence and enhance our relevance to better meet the needs of our students and communities:
Strategy 1: Increase the focus of FFCA’s core educational programming on preparing students for the diverse and dynamic world around us while implementing a renewed charter with fidelity and excellence including:
- evolving our K-12 character and leadership program to align with the opportunities and challenges of a diverse and pluralist society including the promotion of intercultural competencies;
- expanding opportunities for strategic integration of technology and innovation into K-12 academic math and science programming
- strategically expanding middle school career and technology foundations (CTF) and high school career and technology studies (CTS) programming;
- evolving our capacity to provide an effective continuum of supports in K-12 consistent with our distinctive charter for students with specialized learning needs,
- establishing a process for the regular assessment of societal changes and future implementation of program evolutions in response to those changes when desired.
Strategy 2: Prudently grow and expand to become a complete, permanent, and sustainable K-12 jurisdiction of 6000 Calgary students prioritizing:
- optimal and sustainable allocation of human, fiscal and capital resources;
- staff development and succession plans at all levels;
- appropriate and ethical use of technology to improve organizational effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability
