Join Us and become an FFCA Board Director!
The FFCA Board of Directors plays a crucial role in the success and future of FFCA. Directors serve a three-year term and are expected to participate in various Board, Society, and Campus functions. On average, Board members spend 15+ hours per month on Board activities, including:
-
Attending and participating in all scheduled Board meetings
-
Reviewing supplemental reading materials, draft policies, reports, and other Board documents
-
Attending an annual Board tour of FFCA campuses
-
Attending campus functions periodically at the invitation of campus administration
We are looking for three directors. In accordance with the Society Bylaws, the Board will elect two directors as part of the annual election and may appoint one. However, if the Board does not identify an individual for the appointed position prior to the election, it may choose to appoint a director from the pool of unelected candidates following the election.
On behalf of the FFCA community, we’re calling on YOU to share your unique gifts, skills, experience, and fresh ideas as a valued contributor to our Board. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds who are passionate about governance, improving the educational experience for students, collaborative problem-solvers, and committed to the goals and mission of FFCA. Please note, that all Directors require a police check or must have had one issued within 12 months of appointment. The cost of the police check is 15 dollars for volunteers.
The Role of the Board
The FFCA Board is a governance board, and it is responsible for providing oversight of FFCA’s education system to ensure it is operating in the best interests of its student base and stakeholders. This includes decisions about FFCA’s finances, infrastructure and other strategic priorities. Successful governance relies on a strong Board with the right mix of skills, chemistry, personal motivation, and a commitment to the organization’s mission, vision, and shared beliefs. The Board operates with a high degree of trust, collaboration, and teamwork, including between the Board, the Superintendent and other members of FFCA’s Sr. Administraton.
Current Priorities of the Board
Some of the key areas the Board of Directors will focus on in this upcoming term include supporting the implementation of the new organizational strategic plan, advocacy for Charter permanency, and ongoing work in capital planning and infrastructure across all campuses.
